Designing My Photobook
How do I align my images?
Aligning images so they line up straight can be a little tricky so we've included an 'Align to Grid' feature.
To turn this on make sure that the grid is visible (File menu, View, Show, Gird).
Then turn on the 'Align to Grid' (File menu, View, Align to Grid).

Now when you move your images around the page they will snap to the grid points.
Can I use any font on my computer in my photobook?
You can add captions or even whole pages of text to your photobook. Text can be created in any size or colour however to ensure correct reproduction, the fonts available are set to the selection in our software. There are over 20 to choose from and they have been selected to suit all kinds of themes and occasions.
If you need to use a specific font, you can create this in an image editing program and save it as jpeg file to add it to your photobook project.
What format of image files can I use in my Photobook?
To maintain high quality print yet keep the file size down (which helps reduce the upload time) our software only uses the jpeg format. All digital cameras create this format by default and this is the most common format for scanners and image editing application
Can I edit and enhance my photos inside the software?
Yes, with the built in image editor you can edit you images right inside our software. With auto enhancement, optimisation and colour adjustment. You can apply sharpening, noise removal and even remove red eyes. Create black & white, sepia tone, or colour tones with just one click. You can even save your edited image as a jpeg to use in your next photobook project.
Can I use full page images created in another program in the Clickonprint software?
Yes, if you wish to design the pages inside an image editing program you can. Just be sure to create them at the correct page size and to save them as a high resolution jpeg (300ppi).

Can I copy pages from one photobook to another photobook?
You can not copy a page from one photobook to another however if you wish to reuse pages of an existing book in a new book simply save the book under a new filename and delete the unwanted pages.
Does Clickonprint check my photobook layout before it is printed?
Due to the automated process involved in printing your photobook we do not and can not control its content nor can we be held responsible for any content errors, such as mistakes in spelling or layout. The PhotoBook will be printed just as it appears in the ‘preview’ screen. Please proof read your photobook content prior and check your photobook layout prior to submitting your order to Clickonprint.

Warning Messages
Red = Error - Yellow = Warning - Green = Information
What does "Bad Resolution" mean?
This means that the image does not have enough resolution to be printed at the size you have made it on the page. Images with bad resolution may print out pixelated (distorted & blurry) and we do not recommend you use them in your photobook.
The bad resolution icon will appear on images with resolutions less than 150dpi at the placed size.
Possible Solutions:
- Reducing the size of the image on the page will increase the resolution
- If the image is a scan of a printed photo, re scan the photo at a higher resolution (300-600dpi)
- If the image was taken from the internet ask if the image owner can provide you a higher resolution copy.
What does "Low Resolution" mean?
This means that the image has a low resolution for printing at the size you have made it on the page. Images with low resolution are acceptable for print however when viewed very close up, small individual pixels may be visible.
The low resolution icon will appear on images with resolutions between 150dpi & 250dpi at the placed size.
Possible Solutions:
- Reducing the size of the image on the page will increase the resolution
- If the image is a scan of a printed photo, re-scan the photo at a higher resolutions (300-600dpi)
What does "Object Overlaps Middle of Page" mean?
This means that an image or text frame is placed over the middle of the book and that some parts of this object may be lost in the binding of the finished book. Please check that all critical elements of the photo (eg. faces) and all text be kept away from this area.
What does "Object Near Middle of Page" mean?
This means that an image or text frame is placed close to middle book and that some parts of this object may be lost in the binding of the finished book. Please check that all critical elements of the photo (eg. faces) and all text be kept away from this area.
What does "Text Outside Bleed" mean?
This means that a text frame is placed over the dotted trim lines of the page. Please check to make sure that the text is inside of this line to ensure it will not be trimmed during the finishing of your book.
What does :Placeholder is empty" mean?
This message is just an information message to let you know that you have some unused image or text frames in your layout. No action needs to be taken as the empty frames will not be visible in your printed photobook.
What does "Spine Text is Missing" mean?
For our PhotoCover books you can add a title to the spine of the book. Just go to the cover layout and double click between the dotted lines in the middle of the book to open the spine text editor.

You can also send your order to us via CD. After you complete the order wizard, select the 'Write to CD' option which will automatically burn your photobook and order details to a disc.
My order won't upload or connect to your upload servers, how can I fix this?
We operate multiple upload servers to ensure we have 100% uptime and can accept simultaneous uploads of orders. If our software is unable to connect to our servers or the upload fails this is typically a connection error on your computer (or network).
If you are uploading your photobook from home, check that you are connected to the internet. If you have a very slow or intermittent connection this may cause the connection to our upload servers to fail. You may also have strong security settings that blocks programs from accessing the internet. If you do not know how to adjust these settings we recommend uploading your order using our alternative upload method.
If you’re trying to upload your order from a work location a connection error may be caused by the IT Security policy of your office. There may be settings in place that block our software access to our upload servers. You may know (or your company IT Helpdesk can provide) the proxy internet setting to grant access. These settings, when entered into our software in the File, Settings, FTP-Transfer option in our software allow our software to connect to the internet. If you do not know these settings we recommend uploading your order using our alternative upload method.
How long does it take to upload my order file?
The time it takes for your order file to upload varies depending on the number of photos in your book and the type on internet connection. On a standard broadband internet connection a small book with about 24 photos will take approximately 15 minutes. Larger books with hundreds of photos may take a few hours to upload and we recommend letting it run overnight.
If you are having difficulty uploading your order due to a slow internet connection or very large order you can also create an order cd via our software which can be sent to us in the post.
