In 2001 an Australian ophthalmologist, Dr Nitin Verma was invited to East Timor by the World Health Organisation to investigate the state of eye health care in the fledgling nation.
Soon the East Timor Eye Project started.
This is the story of a project only possible because of the goodwill of a small number of volunteer Australians who are selflessly working through the eye health crisis in East Timor and passing on their skills to the Timorese.
There's a simple goal - to eradicate preventable blindness by the year 2020 and help the Timorese take over their eye health care.
Saving Sight, Saving a Nation is on sale now for $69.95 and proceeds from every book sold
will go directly to help save the sight the Timorese.
Clickonprint is a proud supporter of the East Timor Eye Project.
